Explained and went through stage by stage details. Fully explained the pros and cons of having an operation, especially the increased risk around scar tissue from a previous operation.

Explained what was happening within my body extremely clearly from the scans. Justified and explained the reasons for the advice on next steps rather than just told me what they would be. Left me feeling confident that the plan was the right one for me.

Mr Dambatta kindly saw me on a Sunday. He was professional throughout my appointment. He was professionally curious and took a history of past treatments by using active listening and he showed me unconditional positive regard and empathy. He allowed my partner to be present in the consultation and was compassionate towards us both. He was non-judgemental and explained in detail, without jargon and using effective communication, the problems in my lumbar spine indicated on the MRI scan. Patient-centred choices for treatment pathways were provided. He came across as a gentleman in every aspect of his role. This standard of care has been consistent over the past 40 years of being treated by this branch of medicine and needs to be preserved within the NHS. Thank you.

Mr Dambatta has always given me full explanations of my health issues and listened carefully to my concerns. I have never felt pressured and he has always given me time and opportunity to consider all the available options so I can make an informed decision. I am delighted that his knowledge, skill and expertise appear (at 4 weeks post surgery) to have resolved my immediate painful and disabling condition. I am greatly reassured by Mr Dambatta carefully explaining to me where and to whom I should address any later ongoing concerns. I feel supported and listened to.

From my first meeting with Mr Dambatta, I felt he understood me, he spoke clearly explaining my symptoms, showing and talking through my MRI’s explaining the risks the treatments, the surgeries, mostly reassuring me what I may be able to achieve with my first operation. I have had my first thoracic and cervical MRI which really shocked me, my symptoms were worsening I’m dropping things, losing dexterity however again after the explanation I was more calm, now I know what to expect. I know mr Dambatta will be truthful and do all he can to help me live a better life.

Response from Mr Shuaibu Dambatta

Thank you so much for taking time to leave a feedback. We don’t always get it right but, it encourages to give our best and point to us the areas we could improve upon. Much appreciated.
